Gamay was the first red wine I had ever made - hence the label of a child getting their feet wet on red wine. I had always had a warm fondness of cru beaujolais so when I came to oregon and discovered that there were gamay vines here I was determined to get my hands on some.
THe early growing season for 2021 was idilic - a timely bud break and bloom and healthy fruit set. Then June happened and along with it 116 degrees - IN oregon! Many young or unirrigated vineyards suffered. Thankfully the roots at jubilee vineyard were deep enough to be able to survive the heat with relative ease.
The wine is lithe and bright red fruit flavors with earthy undertones.
