Well, the big story for vintage 2020 was of course the fires. What was as an idilic growing season quickly turned to panic when smoke from the wildfires drifted north to the willamette valley. at first it was high level which turned the sky to dark red, but on the third day the wind stopped and the smoke fell to the ground. It was dangerous to breathe for nearly a week.

Because I have a close relationship with rainsong vineyard I was not about to cancel the fruit for which I was contracted. I decided to make white wine out of the fruit in order to limit the amount of contact the skins had with the juice. It was fermented in barrel for four months before bottling.

necessity is the mother of invention. I quickly fell in love with this wine and all of its uniqueness. It has a golden, hazy color and a clothy texture. A nose full of overripe apple and white flowers greet you before a soft rich palate.
